Serhii, 40 years, soldier of the 30rd Separate mechanized brigade, injured near Debaltsevo.


Left foot:

  • firearm chronic osteomyelitis of the left femur on the border of the upper and middle thirds, fistulose form
  • condition after osteosynthesis by means of locking pins, the instability of the latter.
  • femur defect up to 9 cm
  • shortening of the left lower limb up to 3 cm.

Corse of the injury in the event of non-application of cellular technology: A year and a half has passed since Serhii’s injure. He was treated by means of conventional methods by which doctors agreed to the shortening of the leg, as it was a defect of the femur. Due to the bone infection at the place of the fracture – on the contrary, the bone had yet more destroyed due to osteomyelitis. So, now defect of the hip is about 13 cm and osteomyelitis continues to destroy the bone. Non-application of the cellular technology will lead to disability, or even amputation.


Required treatment: reconstructive and restorative treatment of the damaged femur using biotechnology.

More about the wounded

Serhii is a soldier of the 30rd Separate mechanized brigade. He was injured during the defense of Debal’tsevo on February 3, 2015 – he received a severe shrapnel wound of the hip due to heavy mortar fire. He lost a lot of blood, was unconscious, so he does not remember how he found himself in hospital.

Serhii was treated in hospitals in Artemivsk and Lviv, undergone five operations on his leg. In May 2015 the soldier had hip shortening up to 3 cm and he was mounted an orthopedic femur nail, but due to infection in his leg osteomyelitis is progressing, which has destroyed 9 cm of the bone. When the soldier realized that the usual methods of treatment used in hospitals, will not help, he sought help from a social project “Biotech-rehabilitation –of the injured”. Doctors have developed a treatment regimen for the soldier that will save his leg- firstly in it required to remove the dead portion of the bone, and after overcoming of purulent process to recover bone using biotechnology.

Serhii was born in Malyn, Zhytomyr Region. Before the war he worked at the local paper mill, then – as a security guard in Kiev. He was mobilized during the first draft – in May 2015. But he went to the East because of his personal views – to protect children and their homeland. During the ATO he took part in battles near the cities of Shchastia, Lutugino, Antracit, Vesela Hora.

A big family – his wife Tatiana and three children – 21-year-old and 16-year-old daughters and 15-year-old son are waiting for the soldier at home. Let’s help the hero get better asap and come back home!
