Implications of a gunshot wound of a shin:

  • shin-bone defect up to 80 cm3
  • pin-track osteomyelitis .

Course of injury in the event of non-use of cellular technologies: Oleksandr is being treated by traditional methods for more than a year, but a significant bone defect is not restored by itself, and Oleksandr’s leg remains immovable. In addition, due to a long term of the device wearing, the pin-track osteomyelitis has developed, which may cause dangerous complications, and in the result – an amputation.

Required treatment: reconstructive and restorative treatment of the tibia, which will help to return the support ability to the leg and full functioning.

  1. Examination and expert consultations during the treatment (study of cells, blood, urine, control X-rays, EKG, etc.) – 10,140 UAH

More about wounded

Oleksandr is a Volunteer of the Tornado Battalion. He was shot into the shin nearby the village of Shchastia on  January 30, 2015. While patrolling the area, along with his fellows, Oleksandr was ambushed by the enemy – at the cemetery, which was located near the road where a sniper firing on the car of fighters was hidden.

Oleksandr was immediately directed to Severodonetsk, and then to Dnipropetrovsk. The fighter has had six surgeries, but the bone has not yet ankylosed due to the bone tissue defect by up to 80 cm3.

Oleksandr is a resident of Dnipropetrovsk, where his wife and the 3,5 year old son are waiting for his returning. Previously, Oleksandr had his own business – a restaurant, a club and a leisure base. With the beginning of active hostilities in the East he started volunteering (bought and brought the Ukrainian military clothing, thermal imagers, UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) to different departments). A fighter tells us that at the beginning of 2015, he, like many other volunteer organizations of Dnepropetrovsk, suffered from the unfounded accusations and persecution by the police, but, according to his words, the business “was squeezed” by someone close to local prosecutors’ office. After losing his business, Oleksandr decided to volunteer to go to the front.


He is currently working on a book about his activity, collecting evidence and initiating the businesses restitution in a legal way. However, his health condition is troubling – he has been an inpatient for more than a year having almost no hope to recover.
