Information about wounded patient

Ivan is an antitank grenadier of Zalizna 24-th separate mechanized brigade. He got injured during massive grads and mortars bombarding in the morning of July 11, 2014.

On that day the brigade carries out a combat mission near Zelenopillia Village to support border guards in protecting the border and prevent illegal entry of the military formations to the territory of Ukraine.

The soldier received the first aid in Diakovo Village, where the 79th brigade was based; from there he was transported by the helicopter to Dnipropetrovsk, where he underwent the first surgery and external device-based fixation of broken right leg tibia.

After this treatment Ivan continued treatment in the Vinnitsa hospital – the soldier underwent two surgeries for replacement of the external fixation device with Kostiuk’s device for knee fixation, as well as skin transplantation, open wounds closure and removal of foreign bodies – fragments. Later Ivan was transferred to Kyiv Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics, where he underwent the fourth surgery – Kostiuk’s device resetting and knee unblocking, after which Ivan was able to bend the joint under few degrees.

Currently, due to the treatment in one of the Lviv medical centres Ivan can bend the leg at the knee at 100 degrees, however, within the period of eight moths the synostosis didn’t occur.

In peacetime the soldier worked in construction. It should be noted that ATO in the East is not the first military operation of Ivan. In 2004 he served in peacekeeping battalion “UkrPolBat”, where as a part of the 8th Tactical Group under the auspices of NATO he performed assignments of the peacekeeping mission in Iraq.

Ivan is a native of  Novoiavorivsk, Lviv Region. His large family is awaiting for him there: his wife Oksana, two sons (Ivan, 7 years and Ostap, 2 months), mother Stefaniia, sister Mariia and brother Mykhailo.

Let’s help the hero to recover faster so he will be able to plunge into pleasant family affairs. For student Ivan and baby Ostap really need a healthy and energetic father, who will be an example of courage and patriotism for them, as well as the evidence, based on his example of destiny, of the fact that any life problems can be handled, the main thing is never give up a hope!
